A letter to my Husband on Father’s Day

My Post (4)Dear Husband,

You and I started off, both in relationships, but glimpsing at each other when we first met ten years ago.

Ten years ago I had been in love with a boy. I thought I knew what love was, and what I wanted in all future relationships after that one had ended. I can honestly say now, that I had no clue what it meant to love and be loved before meeting you.

A few months passed after that, I saw you again. I observed this handsome man, and something happened internally to me, you shook my soul in mere minutes, and I haven’t even spoken a word to you yet.

I caught a glimpse of our future in your eyes. I wondered if you were the man of my dreams and the father of my unborn children.
As the days turned into weeks and weeks into months, I fell head over heels in love with you and every essence of who you are. I knew you would be the most incredible father to our future children.

And then it was said, those three words – I LOVE YOU. Those three words blossomed into our future family.

Nine years later, a marriage, and two precious boys later, my feelings for you have changed more loving and embrace. I supposed it all started after our first son was born.

I remember seeing your smile the first time you caught a glimpse of our first little boy. I loved you before you became a Dad, but at that moment my love for you grew even stronger. Holding our first baby boy in your arms made my heart flutter more than seeing you all dressed up in your finest suit.

I want to thank you for being there for both of the births of our two precious boys. Being the one following them around the hospital for all the different newborn checks while I was stuck in bed.

I appreciate that my first days of new motherhood (with both our boys) , you went beyond anything I ever expected and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart on both my pregnancies and both births of our sons;

♥Thank you for transforming into the world’s kindest, most patient nurse and taking care of me throughout both my pregnancy and always asking how I felt so often.
♥Thank you for helping me for the first time breastfeeding and waiting food and drinks on me while I was still figuring it out.
♥Thank you for keeping us afloat in those early weeks of being a new mom and a new mom of two, when we were both exhausted, terrified and ecstatic new parents.
♥Thank you for supporting me through postpartum depression with Mason and now waking in the middle of the night to attend to Jason’s needs, when I just pull the blanket over my head and drift back to sleep.
♥Thank you for being there for each milestone, sharing in the joy of each new achievement as our boys gets older.
♥Thank you for stepping up to the plate on every opportunity you’ve had being a partner and parent.
♥Thank you for being the type of man who will work before sunrise and to sun down, just to make sure our family will be safe and secure.
♥Thank you for shaping our two boys into men who will actually respect women, care for others and stand up for what is right, just by being YOU.
♥I adore the way you play with our boys, making their interests your fascination and priority.
♥I adore how when I have had a tough day, you encourage me take a break, have a relaxing bath before joining the joys of parenting again.
♥I love how when Jason sees you, his face lights up the room.
♥I love how when you pick up Masons from school, he jumps into your arms and wrapping his around your neck.

I admire your patience, creativity and humor in our parenting journey. Without you everything would be so much more dull and harder.

Thank you for becoming the Dad I always knew you’d be
and developing a true expertise on silly faces and for knowing all the sounds that make our babies laugh so hard.

Yes, our relationship is far from perfect, but we can always lean on each other and work as a team when it comes to parenting. But one thing is for curtain, you are a perfect father and our boys are so lucky to have such an amazing man to teach them and molding them into the men I would be proud of one day.

I’m wishing you a very happy Father’s Day and hope I make you feel celebrated.
Thank you for being YOU

Your Wife
